Allan E. Haberkamp, 68, of Kingston, IL, formerly of Cloverdale, Illinois died on July 19, 2015, at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.
He was born on September 24, 1946, in Aurora, IL, the son of Edwin A. and Mary V. (Hahn) Haberkamp. Allan was a graduate of Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, IL. After high school he joined the United States Army to serve our country during the Vietnam War, while being stationed in Germany. On October 10, 1970, he married Barbara Abraham at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Winfield. Allen worked as a service technician for Sears & Roebuck for 42 years.
Allan was a member of St. Catherine of Genoa. He also was a 30 year member of the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club and an American Legion member for 40 years. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and also enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of almost 45 years; his son, Brian (Krista) of Kingston, IL; one daughter, Theresa Johnson of Genoa, IL; three grandchildren, Megan, Kyle, and Kailey; one sister, Alice Blackwell of Bloomingdale, IL; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015, at St. Catherine of Genoa, 340 S Stott St., in Genoa, IL with Father Donald M. Ahles officiating. Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 24, with a wake service at 7:45 p.m., at Slater-Butala Funeral Home, Genoa.
