CRYSTAL LAKE - Bruce Alan Hupfer, 59, of Crystal Lake, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at his home.
He was born Dec. 31, 1946, in Berwyn, to Raymond and Ann (Petaja) Hupfer. On May 22, 1976, he married Gloria Boos at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Crystal Lake.
He attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake. He was a man of many skills who loved to make improvements to his home to make life easier for his family.
He worked for Fifth Third Bank in McHenry, was vice president of the Business Development Group, was on the advisory board of Pioneer Center, and helped Monarch Hospice in getting started. In 1977, he had plans designed for Elgin/O'Hare Expressway.
He owned Hupfer Consulting. He had an M.B.A. and a master's in Sociology from Northern Illinois University and a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University. He was vice president of marketing for N.B.D. Illinois Bank and Liberty Bank.
He was a former Nunda Township Precinct Committeeman. He co-authored reports to the U.S. Congress identifying savings through deregulation, restructuring, and improved management of key federal agencies including the FDIC, SEC, OCC and CFTC. He wrote professional journal articles on marketing and authored a book called "Marketing Your Medical Practice."
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Michelle Hupfer of Crystal Lake; his parents; a sister, Susan (Edward) Kuefler of Plano; and two nieces, Amy (Mark) Johnson and Kelly.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilee.
